A Local Fence Contractor
JHL Fence Company installs and replaces fencing across Chester County, Delaware County and the Montgomery County Main Line. We are a family-owned operation working out of two offices — West Chester and Newtown Square — and we are not a franchise of anything.
That matters in practice more than it sounds. The person who walks your property is the person who specifies the fence. The crew that sets your posts works for us. There is no call centre between you and the people doing the work, and if something needs fixing you are talking to the same company that installed it.
We install every common fence type — cedar, pressure-treated wood, vinyl, powder-coated aluminum, ornamental metal and chain link — plus the work that is specific to this territory: ranch and horse fencing for Chester County paddocks, pool barriers built to code, and retention basin enclosures for HOAs and property managers.
Licensed, Insured, and Permitted Properly
We are a licensed and insured Pennsylvania Home Improvement Contractor, registration #PA035784. A certificate of insurance is available on request, and it is worth asking any contractor for theirs.
We file the township or borough permit and, where a property is in a homeowners association, the architectural review submission as well. Both are part of the job rather than an extra. We file them in parallel, because the two run on independent timelines and sequencing them adds weeks for no reason.
We also schedule the crew against the permit rather than the other way around — which means the installation date is set once the approvals are actually in hand, not before.
How We Build
Every job starts with an on-site assessment. We walk the fence line with you, note grade changes, and identify the things that affect post placement — buried utilities, tree roots, drainage swales, retaining walls. Then you get a written estimate against a specified build: material and grade of material, height, post spacing, footing depth, gate count and hardware.
We do not quote per-foot over the phone, because that number would be a guess and it would change once we saw the ground.
PA One Call utility mark-out is filed before any hole is dug. Posts go below the frost line in concrete footings and are left to cure before anything is hung on them — which is why most of our installations run across two days rather than one. That below-grade work is invisible once the fence is up and it is the single largest determinant of whether the fence is still straight in ten years.
Every installation is backed by our workmanship guarantee. If it is not right, we come back and fix it.
