Repair & Replacement

Can you repair my existing fence?

Yes, including fences we did not install — most of the repair work we do is on someone else's fence. Whether repair or replacement is the right call turns almost entirely on the posts: if the posts are sound and the failure is in rails, boards, panels or hardware, repair is substantially cheaper. If posts have rotted at grade or heaved out of plumb in several places, you would be rebuilding section by section and replacement costs less overall.

We assess post condition along the whole run rather than only at the visible failure, because that is what determines the answer.

Common repairs are storm and impact damage, posts heaved by freeze-thaw cycles, rotted bottom rails where a fence line sits in a wet swale, and gates that have begun to drag.

The usual limitation on older fences is matching. Board profiles, picket caps and rail dimensions get discontinued, and a new section will not match the weathered colour of an existing fence until it ages. We tell you before the work whether the repair will be visible.
