Process
How long does fence installation take?
Most residential fence projects are one to two days of on-site work. Posts are set and allowed to cure before panels or boards are hung, which is why the work is normally split across consecutive days. Larger properties, significant grade changes or complex gate systems extend that to two or three days. Permit turnaround is separate and depends on the municipality.
The sequence is: site assessment, PA One Call utility mark-out, permit and HOA filing, post setting, panel or board installation, and a final walk-through.
The longest and least predictable part is usually not the installation but the approvals. Township permit turnaround varies widely and spikes in spring; HOA architectural committees frequently meet monthly rather than continuously. We file both in parallel to avoid compounding the delay.
We schedule the crew against the permit rather than the other way around, so the installation date is set once approvals are in hand.
